The one fundamental quality of every object is anicca: it is changing. More precisely, every object is not a solid thing. Every object is an event. It appears, moves, changes, peaks, weakens, breaks, returns, dissolves, or gets replaced by another object. Whether it is an urge object, emotion object, image object, mental object, gross body object, subtle body object, devotional object, or attention object, its deepest shared quality is: it does not stay the same.
The mental model is Every Object Is A Wave.
The core DNA is: object appears + object is known + object changes + mind calls it solid + attention fuses with it + witness sees change + object loses absolute power. The mind says, this is fear, this is me, this is my life, this is permanent, this will never leave. Vipassana says, look closer. When you look closer, fear is not one thing. It is pressure, heat, thought, image, urge, meaning, attention capture, all moving. The object looked like a stone from far away. Up close, it is a river.
The first category is appearance. Every object first has to appear. Variables are fear appears, thought appears, memory appears, image appears, urge appears, ache appears, blankness appears, desire appears, anger appears, breath appears, sound appears, Devi feeling appears, attention movement appears, resistance appears, interpretation appears. Before it appears, it is not your experience. Once it appears, it becomes part of the field.
The second category is intensity change. No object keeps the exact same strength. Variables are fear increases, fear drops, ache sharpens, ache dulls, desire spikes, desire fades, anger heats up, anger cools, sadness becomes heavy, sadness becomes soft, thought becomes loud, thought becomes faint, image becomes vivid, image becomes blurry, devotion becomes warm, devotion becomes quiet. Even if the object feels like it is staying, its intensity is vibrating.
The third category is texture change. Objects have texture, and the texture changes. Variables are sharp becomes dull, heavy becomes pulsing, tight becomes vibrating, hot becomes warm, cold becomes neutral, solid becomes grainy, smooth becomes prickly, blank becomes tingling, pressure becomes movement, ache becomes waves, fear becomes buzzing, sadness becomes hollow, anger becomes heat, desire becomes electric. This is why subtle observation is powerful. It shows the object is not one block.
The fourth category is location change. Many objects move in the body-field. Variables are chest tightness moves to throat, stomach drop spreads to belly, face heat moves to eyes, jaw clench spreads to neck, heart pressure becomes shoulder heaviness, breath tightness becomes head pressure, sexual charge moves through pelvis, fear moves from belly to chest, sadness rises to throat, devotion opens in chest, blankness shifts location. If it moves, it cannot be a fixed self.
The fifth category is clarity change. Objects become clearer or less clear. Variables are thought becomes obvious, thought becomes vague, image becomes sharp, image dissolves, sensation becomes precise, sensation becomes fuzzy, urge becomes strong, urge becomes background, emotion becomes named, emotion becomes unclear, blankness becomes textured, pain becomes many points, breath becomes subtle, breath becomes gross. The object's visibility itself changes.
The sixth category is meaning change. The same object gets different meanings at different moments. Variables are chest tightness means danger, chest tightness means energy, boss message means threat, boss message means instruction, ad drop means failure, ad drop means data, pain means problem, pain means sadhana, blankness means nothing, blankness means subtle object, loneliness means abandonment, loneliness means space, desire means command, desire means wave. The sensation may be similar, but the interpretation changes.
The seventh category is grip change. Objects do not hold attention with the same force forever. Variables are urge grips hard, urge loosens, fear captures, fear becomes watchable, thought swallows, thought becomes background, image seduces, image fades, pain dominates, pain becomes one object among many, praise inflates, praise normalizes, shame burns, shame cools. The object's power over the dot changes.
The eighth category is ownership change. At first an object feels like me. Then it can become mine. Then it can become this. Then it can become only known. Variables are I am anxious, then my anxiety, then anxiety is here, then anxiety is known; I am ashamed, then shame is arising, then heat is known; I want food, then craving is here, then urge is known; I am failing, then failure thought is here, then thought is known. The object does not just change physically. Your relationship to it changes.
The ninth category is duration change. Every object has time behavior. Variables are instant flash, short pulse, long wave, repeating wave, background hum, sudden spike, slow build, long ache, quick thought, looping thought, recurring image, morning mood, evening heaviness, one breath sensation, one-hour anxiety, two-day sadness. Long duration does not mean permanent. It only means the wave is repeating or being refueled.
The tenth category is replacement. One object replaces another so fast that life feels continuous. Variables are fear replaced by thought, thought replaced by image, image replaced by body tightness, tightness replaced by urge, urge replaced by planning, planning replaced by memory, memory replaced by shame, shame replaced by hunger, hunger replaced by scrolling desire, scrolling desire replaced by guilt, guilt replaced by task pressure. The mind calls this my mood, but it is actually many objects replacing each other.
The eleventh category is compound change. A life situation is not one object. It is a bundle, and the bundle keeps remixing. Variables are boss comment + face heat + thought + shame + urge to explain; then boss memory + chest pressure + future fear; then body fatigue + resentment + silence; then Devi offering + softening + next task. The situation feels like one solid pain, but the object-composition keeps changing.
The twelfth category is dependency. Objects depend on conditions. Variables are fear depends on interpretation, anger depends on resistance, shame depends on self-image, craving depends on future pleasure image, sadness depends on memory, hope depends on possibility, devotion depends on remembrance, body pain depends on posture, dullness depends on sleep, clarity depends on attention, panic depends on uncertainty. When conditions change, the object changes.
The thirteenth category is not-self through change. Because every object changes, no object can be the final I. Variables are body sensation changes, thought changes, emotion changes, urge changes, image changes, identity changes, attention changes, devotion changes, blankness changes, pain changes, pleasure changes, fear changes. What changes can be loved, watched, offered, trained, understood. But it cannot be the final witness.
The fourteenth category is subtle trick. Some objects pretend to be permanent because they repeat. Variables are same ache returns, same insecurity returns, same career fear returns, same body shame returns, same boss wound returns, same longing returns, same desire returns, same loneliness returns. But repeat is not permanence. A song can play again and again, but each note is still appearing and passing. The pattern repeats; the actual object changes moment by moment.
The fifteenth category is Vipassana proof. You do not believe anicca as a philosophy. You verify it. Variables are watch pressure for ten seconds, watch itch for one minute, watch breath for five breaths, watch shame in the face, watch craving in the belly, watch anger in the jaw, watch sadness in the throat, watch blankness in the forehead, watch thought appear and vanish. The proof is not in thinking. The proof is in watching the object fail to remain identical.
The sixteenth category is Devi view. In Devi language, every object is Shakti in motion. Variables are fear as moving Shakti, anger as moving Shakti, desire as moving Shakti, devotion as moving Shakti, pain as moving Shakti, breath as moving Shakti, thought as moving Shakti, attention as moving Shakti, body as moving Shakti, life as moving Shakti. The wave rises from Her, dances in Her, dissolves back into Her.
So the one fundamental quality is change. Every object is impermanent, unstable, moving, conditioned, appearing, passing, not fixed, not final. The object may be beautiful or painful, holy or ugly, subtle or loud, mental or physical, but it has the same signature: it cannot stay exactly as it is.
The line to remember is: Every object is a wave pretending to be a thing.
