The mental model is Object And Knowing.
The core DNA is: something appears + it can be noticed + therefore it is object + object changes + knowing remains + mind mistakes object for self + witness quietly knows the mistake too. In direct experience, anything that can be noticed is on the side of object. The witness is not another object sitting behind the objects. It is the knowing by which objects are known.
The first category is gross objects. These are obvious objects. Variables are sound is object, darkness is object, breath is object, body is object, pain is object, pressure is object, heat is object, cold is object, itch is object, chair touch is object, screen glow is object, room sound is object, heartbeat is object, jaw tension is object, stomach drop is object, chest ache is object. If it appears and can be noticed, it is not the final knower. It is something appearing in knowing.
The second category is subtle body objects. Some objects are not loud. Variables are micro vibration, small pulse, dull heaviness, soft pressure, inner shaking, tiny tingling, blank patch, numb area, floating feeling, inner contraction, inner expansion, breath pause, energy rising, energy falling, throat tightness, face heat, eye fatigue, belly hollow. These feel intimate because they happen inside the body, but intimacy does not make them the witness. They are still known.
The third category is mental objects. Thoughts are also objects. Variables are I am behind, I am ugly, boss thinks I am foolish, this will fail, I need to fix this, I want food, I want escape, I cracked it, I lost it, this is spiritual, this is useless, what if, why me, later I will be happy, I should not feel this. A thought can be powerful, sharp, emotional, logical, spiritual, or seductive. Still, if it is noticed, it is an object.
The fourth category is image objects. Inner visuals are objects. Variables are black screen, dark space, old memory image, future scene, airport memory, boss face, girl looking at me, Nolli dashboard, money number, body in mirror, Devi image, temple image, death image, success image, failure image, travel image, food image. The mind may say the image is important. Witness simply knows: image appeared.
The fifth category is emotion objects. Emotions are not exceptions. Variables are fear is object, shame is object, anger is object, sadness is object, jealousy is object, devotion is object, love is object, lust is object, hope is object, despair is object, pride is object, humiliation is object, gratitude is object, helplessness is object, excitement is object, peace is object. The emotion may fill the whole inner sky, but it is still weather in the sky.
The sixth category is urge objects. Urges are objects too. Variables are urge to scroll, urge to eat, urge to message, urge to explain, urge to prove, urge to hide, urge to attack, urge to refresh metrics, urge to ask AI, urge to escape, urge to pray, urge to sit, urge to surrender, urge to work, urge to quit, urge to seek validation. The urge feels like command, but in witness it becomes urge known.
The seventh category is attention as object. This is the sharp one. Even attention can be noticed. Variables are attention on breath, attention on thought, attention on pain, attention on phone, attention on fear, attention on Devi, attention wandering, attention returning, attention stuck, attention soft, attention sharp, attention dull, attention scattered, attention captured, attention widening, attention narrowing. If attention can be observed moving, then attention is not the final witness. Attention is the dot; witness is the knowing of the dot.
The eighth category is identity objects. Even the feeling of "me" can become object. Variables are me as victim, me as failure, me as special, me as spiritual, me as revenue architect, me as son, me as employee, me as attractive, me as ugly, me as powerful, me as weak, me as rejected, me as chosen, me as devotee, me as witness. The mind may create a very subtle identity called I am the witness. But if that identity is noticed, it too is object.
The ninth category is spiritual objects. Spiritual experiences are also objects. Variables are peace, stillness, devotion, energy rising, bliss, tears, surrender, clarity, dark womb feeling, Devi presence, body dissolving, vastness, silence, emptiness, oneness thought, I have cracked it, this is reality. These may be beautiful, sacred, and valuable. But if they arise and pass, they are still objects in knowing.
The tenth category is blankness as object. This is very important. When you say nothing is there, that nothing is also known. Variables are blankness known, darkness known, no sensation known, numbness known, fog known, confusion known, absence known, empty field known, flatness known, silence known, not knowing known. The mind says, there is nothing. Witness silently knows even the appearance of nothing.
The eleventh category is object behavior. Objects change. Variables are appears, moves, grows, peaks, vibrates, tightens, loosens, returns, fades, breaks into pieces, shifts location, changes texture, becomes pleasant, becomes unpleasant, becomes neutral, disappears. The witness is recognized because objects keep changing, but knowing does not need to change in the same way to know them.
The twelfth category is misidentification. Suffering deepens when an object is mistaken for self. Variables are fear appears and becomes I am afraid, shame appears and becomes I am small, thought appears and becomes this is true, urge appears and becomes I must obey, memory appears and becomes my life, pain appears and becomes I am broken, attention capture appears and becomes I have lost myself, emotion appears and becomes this is me. Misidentification is object plus ownership.
The thirteenth category is de-identification. Freedom begins when the object is seen as object. Variables are fear is known, thought is known, pain is known, urge is known, attention moved is known, shame is known, desire is known, blankness is known, devotion is known, resistance is known, interpretation is known, self-story is known. This does not kill the object. It places the object in the right location.
The fourteenth category is the witness cannot be grabbed. If you try to find the witness as an object, you will find another object. Variables are a feeling of witness, a thought of witness, a visual of witness, a peaceful state, a blank state, a spacious state, a subtle observer identity, a sentence saying I am aware. All of these can be known. So the witness is not found by grabbing. It is recognized by noticing that everything grabbed is already known.
The fifteenth category is Vipassana use. In practice, this becomes extremely practical. Variables are scan sensation as object, notice pain as object, notice pleasant as object, notice unpleasant as object, notice neutral as object, notice craving as object, notice aversion as object, notice blankness as object, notice thought as object, notice attention moving as object. Vipassana weakens the illusion that every object must become me.
The sixteenth category is Devi use. In devotion, every object can be offered because every object is seen. Variables are fear object offered, pain object offered, desire object offered, anger object offered, memory object offered, task object offered, attention object offered, body object offered, blankness object offered, devotion object offered, resistance object offered. The witness is like the temple lamp; the objects are what come before it.
The seventeenth category is moment-to-moment sentence. The simplest practice is: this is object, this is known. Variables are darkness is object, known, breath is object, known, fear is object, known, thought is object, known, urge is object, known, attention is object, known, blankness is object, known, Devi feeling is object, known, resistance is object, known. This one sentence cuts the knot without fighting the object.
So the relationship is: do not hate objects, do not worship objects, do not become objects. Let them appear. Let them be known. Let them change. The witness does not need to defeat the object. It only needs to recognize: this too is appearing in knowing.
The line to remember is: Whatever I can notice is object; the witness is the knowing in which the object appears.
